  144. Instructs the scanner to perform a 75 dots per inch (dpi) resolution, 100% scale, in Line Art composition.

  146. A preview is effected by the Threshold setting and the Graymap setting.  Typically, Preview is used to obtain a rough scan image to set scan areas prior to using Scan.

  148. A preview scans the entire scanner glass, ignoring any scan areas set in the Scanner window.

  153. You can change the scale manually by moving the percentage selector to the left or right until the desired size is shown in the "Output size" indicator.

The output size is the eventual printed size of the scan area.  The "Output size" indicator shows the dimensions of the entire image area.  If there is only one scan area, the output size is the size of the scan area.  If there are two or more scan areas, the output size is the size of the rectangular area that includes all of the scan area.
